It was so great to see everyone at retreat and enjoy old friendships renewed and new friendships made.
Our various groups arrived Friday afternoon and we quickly checked in...gathered our knitting supplies and found several places outdoors to enjoy the needles and the scenery before dinner. Wild turkeys marched right by us....and we quickly tried to get a closer look....but no, they wanted to move on.
Marlee from Black Mountain Weavers in Pt. Reyes and Mimi from Windrush Farms joined us for dinner and after the dinner hour, they entertained us at Buck Hall with their yarn and needle stories and knowledge. It is always a delight to see them and enjoy their yarn -even buy and, yes, I bought some yarn. You never know when you might run out!
Fog on Saturday morning was a peaceful way to start the day...breakfast at the dining hall and then off to Buck Hall again for the beginning of our Madly Plaid Workshop with Chris. During the day we embarked on our mini-vests and learned a lot techiniques along the way. The weather was wonderful and some of us found ourselves outdoors working on our projects.
After dinner we
headed back to Buck Hall....and it was dark so we needed flashlights....some of us used head gear to light our way.
Our Fashion Show is always an inspiration and we get to hear lots of good knitting stories and one of our favorites this year comes from Liz
I don't tell it nearly as well as Liz...but it goes something like this. As I was walking up the trail from Buck Hall to dinner, Liz said. "Carolyn, you are trailing yarn." I start laughing...trailing yarn is kind of normal for me. Well, Liz told us about the time she was knitting a black and white scarf while walking with her young children. She sees something out of the corner of her eye...something trailing her...it's black and white...and she yells skunk as she is moving her children aside. Her son very calmly informs her that it is her yarn - the black and white yarn!
The fashion show is over and our heads are tired...we grab our lights or headlights and head back to our rooms. We then gather again for breakfast and our last session of our teddy bear vest
Chris shows us her modeling walk that she learned at the fashion show from one of our retreaters.
